Sharp Rees-Stealy Otay Ranch Medical Center has undergone a significant transformation. The newly expanded medical office building officially opened its doors to the community on April 7, 2025.
The original medical center opened in 2001, and the expansion adds 60,000 square feet of space — nearly doubling the facility’s size. The new building offers direct access to the existing medical center and is connected by interior lobbies.
“As our community continues to grow, so does the need for high-quality, coordinated care,” says Melissa Major, CEO of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers. “This expansion allows us to provide new urgent care services, expanded specialty care, and advanced diagnostic capabilities — all under one roof — so patients receive the best possible care close to home.”
Building facilities for the future of Sharp
The two-story addition features a state-of-the-art urgent care center, advanced radiology services and a larger lab. The second level houses specialty departments, including oncology, dermatology, audiology and physical therapy for adults and children.
"We’re incredibly proud to open this beautiful new space for our patients and community,” says Dr. Michael Martin, president of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. “This expansion is about more than just a bigger building — it’s about making care more accessible, more personal, and more connected. We want every person who walks through these doors to feel supported, cared for, and confident that they’re getting the very best we have to offer."
